How to fill it out
Enter your rates once
On the Rates tab, type your wall price per square foot at 1, 2 and 3+ stories, the wall type and paint condition adjustments as percents, your trim percent and your minimum.
Work out the wall area
Measure the wall perimeter. The side block multiplies it by the wall height per story and the story count, adds any gable-end triangles, and takes off your share for windows and doors.
Pick the wall type and condition
Both adjustments come from your Rates tab. Prep is figured on the wall price after the wall type adjustment, the same way the multipliers stack in Measured Bid's pricing editor.
Add trim and extras
Trim, fascia and eaves are a percent of the wall price. Use the blank lines for items you price by the piece, such as doors or shutters.
Write the scope
Name the product line, sheen and number of coats for body and trim. Say which prep steps are included and which surfaces are not.

FAQ
How do I measure wall area for a painting estimate?
Multiply the wall perimeter by the wall height and the number of stories. Add the triangles at gable ends. Take off a share for windows and doors. The template's side block does this math.
How much paint does a house need?
Divide the paintable area by the coverage on the product's data sheet, then multiply by the number of coats. Sherwin-Williams lists 350 to 400 sq ft per gallon for SuperPaint Exterior Satin, and Benjamin Moore lists 250 to 350 for Aura Exterior Flat.
Why are prep and wall type percentages?
They change how long the walls take, so they scale with the wall price. Measured Bid's pricing editor uses multipliers for the same thing: 1.10 there is 10% here.
Can I use it as a painting bid template?
Yes. A bid and an estimate carry the same lines for a painting job: the surfaces, prep, product, coats and price. Fill in the scope and terms at the bottom, and the signature line turns it into a bid the owner can accept.
Does it cover interior painting?
No. It's built for exterior walls, trim, fascia and eaves.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. In Google Sheets, choose File, then Import, and upload the .xlsx file. The formulas, dropdowns and all three tabs come with it. The CSV imports too, with the line math but without the Rates tab.
