Choose surfaces before choosing a price
Confirm which services the customer wants: house, roof, gutters or driveway. Record the surface, access, height, water availability, staining and preparation. Agree on excluded work and protection of landscaping and fixtures. Cleaning method and chemical suitability need a site-specific assessment; a price calculator does not choose a safe method for you.
For house washing, Measured Bid infers gross wall area from roof geometry and stories, including gables. It does not deduct openings for this service and does not scan the facade. Roof area comes from sloped roof planes. Gutter cleaning follows detected gutter runs. The driveway choice selects your fixed price for its size; it does not trace or directly measure concrete.
Worked house-and-driveway estimate
Illustrative scope: a one-story house with 1,800 sq ft of gross wall area, a wall-surface factor of 1.00, no bundle discount and a two-car driveway preset. These are sample selling prices, not typical market rates.
| Line | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| House wash | 1,800 sq ft × $0.20/sq ft × 1.00 | $360 |
| Driveway | 1 selected two-car preset × $150 | $150 |
| Selected minimum | House-wash minimum; no roof or gutter service selected | $250 |
| Job total | Greater of $510 subtotal and $250 minimum | $510 |
The minimum is a floor, not an extra line added to $510. A house-only job with 600 sq ft at the same rate produces $120 before the minimum, so its price becomes $250. The same small house plus the $150 driveway produces $270; do not add two minimums to a single trip.
Add roof and gutter work in the right units
Roof cleaning uses measured sloped square feet with your rate for asphalt, tile or metal. Heavy moss can apply a configured multiplier. A steep adjustment applies to the steep portion, not automatically to the whole roof. No extra pitch factor belongs on an area already measured along the slope.
Gutter cleaning can use per-foot rates by story or your configured per-house rates. Lower roofs can use a lower story rate. Check access and the actual gutters before confirming the price. Do not apply the gutter minimum again if the combined job already exceeds the largest selected service minimum.
Price time, access and short visits
Start with a defined cost base: materials, loaded labor, equipment and other job costs. Recover overhead deliberately in your rates or cost allocation. Markup and gross margin use different denominators.
With $100 of cost, a 25% markup gives P = C × (1 + m) = $125. A 25% target gross margin gives P = C ÷ (1 − g) = $133.33. Gross margin is before overhead and other expenses; it is not a promise of net profit. Reject a margin of 100% or more because the denominator is zero or negative.
These formulas help you choose selling rates outside the app. Measured Bid applies the configured trade rates and adjustments; it does not automatically calculate these cost or margin inputs.
Track setup, travel, cleaning and cleanup time separately when you estimate crew cost. Allow for materials and equipment. A minimum should cover a short visit; rates should reflect your own production on each surface and story. Check won jobs against actual hours before changing prices.
Use the method in Measured Bid
Set house-wash rates by story, wall-surface multipliers and a minimum. Set roof-cleaning rates by material, moss and steep adjustments and a minimum. Choose gutter-cleaning rates by foot or house, and optional fixed driveway size prices. A driveway preset has no separate minimum in the current engine. A configured bundle discount applies when at least two services are selected and all selected work is priced, before the job minimum. Offer only the services you have priced.
Your team sees the calculation and dollars. The homeowner sees an initial range and submits a request for verification. If roof data is unavailable, the website can still take a visit request. The gutter development study does not establish pressure-washing price or wall-area accuracy.
Use the pressure-washing product page to review supported choices, and the gutter-cleaning guide for the per-foot method. There is no published pressure-washing calculator or downloadable template in this release.
