Permanent lighting systems for installers compared

Permanent lighting systems sold through installers put LED lights in a track along the roofline and run them from a phone app. For an installer, the bigger differences are in the dealer program: what it costs to start, whether you get a territory, whether the maker also sells to homeowners in your area, and what the warranty covers. This guide compares seven systems using only what each company publishes, checked September 2026.

From each company's own dealer pages. Details below.

The systems

Trimlight

  • Under the soffit
  • 6, 9 or 12 in spacing
  • Trimlight Edge app

Trimlight says it has more than 300 authorized dealers. Its dealer page offers a protected territory starting at your zip code, two days of required training in Salt Lake City, quotas, and no royalties or monthly fees. Its FAQ puts the channel beneath the soffit, leaving gutters and drip edge alone, though its About page describes it attaching to the fascia. The channel comes in more than 50 colors, with lights at 6, 9 or 12 inch spacing, run from the Trimlight Edge app on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

JellyFish Lighting

  • Under the eaves
  • 6, 9 or 16 in spacing
  • JellyFish Cloud app

JellyFish's dealer page says it doesn't sell territories and charges no franchise or territory fees. New dealers train for two days in Utah and work with an install crew before product ships, and they can't sell a competing brand. Lights sit under the eaves behind the trim at 6, 9 or 16 inch spacing, with 250 feet of lights per power supply and the JellyFish Cloud app. JellyFish also installs through corporate locations in Salt Lake City, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Austin-San Antonio, and sells DIY kits.

Gemstone Lights

  • Soffit, under the fascia trim
  • 9 in spacing
  • Hub2 controller

Gemstone's dealer page says there are no exclusive territories and no fee to become a dealer, with an inventory purchase that doesn't include track. Dealers need $2 million in liability insurance, one job approved by a Gemstone rep, onboarding within 90 days and annual sales minimums. It doesn't offer DIY. The track fastens to the soffit under the fascia trim, in over 150 colors, with lights 9 inches apart. The Hub2 controller has four outputs, dual-band Wi-Fi and runs up to 4,096 lights.

Oelo

  • Fascia or under the eaves
  • 10 standard colors
  • Oelo Evolution app

Oelo publishes four dealer tiers: Contractor at 10% off list with no annual purchase, Authorized at 20% with a $5,000 initiation fee and $5,000 to $24,999 a year in purchases, Preferred at 30% from $20,000 a year and Platinum at 35% from $70,000. Its tiers page lists a $20,000 Preferred fee, so ask which applies. On-site training is for Authorized dealers and up. The track can go on the fascia or under the eaves, in 10 standard colors, and the Oelo Evolution app runs a controller rated for up to 600 lights. Oelo also sells DIY kits direct.

EverLights

  • Gutter, drip edge or eaves
  • 25 colors
  • EverLights app

EverLights runs its own local branches alongside a dealer network. Its dealer page asks you to book an appointment and doesn't publish cost or territory terms. Lights mount along the gutter, the drip edge or under the eaves, facing out, in 25 colors, and connect to the EverLights app through a network bridge. It sells ClickLights DIY bundles, listed from $840 for 50 feet to $3,340 for 300 feet when we checked. Its warranty covers products, not labor.

Haven X Series

  • 9 in spacing (Classic)
  • 4-channel controller
  • Haven app

Haven's X Series page says dealer training is required, there's no upfront stocking and no non-compete, and the dealer network is limited by geography. Haven also sells X Series kits direct, such as a 150 ft Classic kit at $4,199.99. Classic lights are 9 inches apart, and a 4-channel controller sets zones in the Haven app. Its warranty page lists one year and doesn't name X Series, so confirm the terms in writing.

Celebright

  • 24V single-wire string
  • 11+ track profiles
  • 200+ dealers

Celebright says it has more than 200 dealers across North America. Dealers start by buying a starter kit, and the price isn't published. It uses a single-wire 24V light string with more than 11 track profiles, and a 10-year transferable warranty on systems bought from January 2025.

The eighth card in the comparison is the DIY option. When a homeowner weighs your quote against a kit, a product like Govee's is what they mean. It mounts with adhesive, can't be cut and tops out at 150 feet, so it suits a short, simple roofline better than a full perimeter.

How to choose a system

  • Territory or open network. A protected territory keeps other dealers of the same brand out of your zip codes. Trimlight's comes with quotas. An open network costs less to hold, and other dealers can sell next door.
  • Who else sells in your market. Some makers install through their own locations or sell kits to homeowners. Check whether they're active where you work.
  • Cash up front. Published entry costs run from Oelo's Contractor tier, with no annual commitment, to $10,000 or more at several programs. Part of that is product credit or inventory, not a fee.
  • Who carries labor. Product warranties run from one year to lifetime as published. Where the programs above publish labor coverage, it's one year, or a one-year minimum. After that, a service call on a failed run is on you.
  • Where the track goes. Makers mount under the soffit, on the fascia or along the gutter. Pick one that fits the houses you already work on, and that your crew can install cleanly.
  • One brand or two. JellyFish doesn't allow competing brands. If you want a premium and a budget option, check this first.

Questions to ask before you sign

  1. Can I see the current dealer price list, and how often does it change?
  2. What are the minimum purchases or quotas, and what happens if I miss them?
  3. Where are my territory lines, and who else sells in them?
  4. What does training cost, including travel?
  5. Do you pass me leads from your website, and on what terms?
  6. How do warranty claims work, and who pays for labor after year one?
  7. How many feet does one controller and power supply run?
  8. How long does track take to arrive in each color?

Pricing the installs

Once you know your dealer cost, the rate is the same math for any system: material and labor per foot, divided by the share you keep after overhead and profit, with a controller fee and a minimum on top. How to price permanent lighting installs works through it on a sample house.

FAQ

Which permanent lighting system is best for installers?

It depends on your market and your cash. Compare territory, startup cost, warranty and whether the maker sells direct in your area. This guide lists what each program publishes.

How much does it cost to become a permanent lighting dealer?

Published figures, checked September 2026: Trimlight asks $5,000 or $10,000 plus $499, with the remainder as material credit. JellyFish puts typical startup at about $10,000. Oelo's tiers start with no annual commitment at 10% off list. Gemstone charges no fee but requires an inventory purchase. EverLights, Haven and Celebright don't publish a number.

Do I get an exclusive territory?

Trimlight offers a protected territory with quotas. JellyFish and Gemstone say they have no exclusive territories. Haven describes a geography-limited network. The others don't publish territory terms.

Can I install more than one brand?

JellyFish's dealer page says you can't sell its product alongside a competitor's. Haven says it has no non-compete. Read each agreement before you sign.

Do these companies sell to homeowners directly?

JellyFish, Oelo, EverLights and Haven sell kits or systems direct, and JellyFish and EverLights also install through their own locations. Gemstone says it doesn't offer DIY. Trimlight says some dealers may offer DIY kits, which void its lifetime product warranty.
