FAQ

What is Measured Bid?

Measurement and estimating software for exterior contractors. Type an address and get the gutter runs, downspouts, roof area and pitch, wall area and rooflines, with a PDF report. Price it with your own rates when you want an estimate.

Do I need an account to measure a house?

Yes, a free one. Sign up with an email and password, with no credit card. The trial covers 14 days or 5 measurements, whichever comes first.

How does it measure a house?

Measured Bid uses aerial imagery and property data to calculate the measurements. You confirm the house on the aerial before anything is measured, and you can edit the runs.

What's in the measurement report?

Roof lengths by edge, pitch and area with a waste table, and the job's quantities with each run numbered on a plan of the roof. It's a PDF you download from the estimate, and it's emailed to you when you measure.

Do I have to put anything on my website?

Yes. Most accounts start by measuring and estimating in the dashboard. The price form for your website is optional.

Who uses it?

Exterior contractors in gutters, fascia and soffit, painting, siding, roofing, permanent lighting, Christmas lights and pressure washing. Companies using it include Sacramento Gutter Guard, Rocklin Gutter Guard, Boise Gutter Guards, ProFlow Painting, 916 Exteriors, Sierra Siding, Iron Crest Exteriors and GutterFX.

Does the price range replace an in-person estimate?

No. It's a starting estimate from aerial data. Confirm the measurements and final price on site.

What happens when there's no roof data for an address?

In the dashboard you can type the measurement you took on site and still price it. On your website, the price form shows a visit request form instead of a price.

Whose prices does it use?

Yours. You set the rates for each trade in the dashboard. New accounts start with sample rates, so you can measure and see a sample estimate before you enter your own.

What if my trial runs out or a payment fails?

When the trial ends or payment is overdue past the grace period, measuring and website prices pause. Your website form still takes visit requests. Choose a plan or update your payment details in Settings → Billing.

Which trades does it cover?

Gutters and guards, fascia and soffit, painting, siding, roofing, permanent lighting, Christmas lights and pressure washing.

Will it work on my website?

Yes. Use the WordPress plugin or paste the embed code on your site. Add your website to the form's allowed sites first. It works on phones.

How accurate is it?

It is a starting range from aerial roof data. Gutter and lighting runs can be edited, and the range accuracy report shows how often sold prices landed inside your ranges. Confirm measurements and the final price on site.

Do homeowners see the Measured Bid name?

No. The price form shows your company name and colors. There is no Measured Bid badge.

Can I share a link instead of embedding it?

Yes. Every price form has its own page you can link from your Google Business Profile, Facebook, texts or a QR code.

Do I have to talk to sales?

No. Start the trial and set it up yourself. Email support@measuredbid.com if you want help.
